GRANDMA MENADUE'S BURNT BUTTER BISCUITS
This recipe was filched from the front cover of the July 2004 South Australia newsletter. Perhaps someone will send more information about Grandma Menadue -- she sounds wonderful!
4oz castor sugar
1 tspn vanilla
Melt butter and cook until golden, cool slightly.
Add sugar and beat well then beat in egg and vanilla.
Add flour and mix well.
Roll into walnut size balls.
Place on baking tray (I use baking paper underneath), press down with a fork and press half an almond on top.
Bake 170 degrees until golden.
Makes approx 3 dozen.
