V32 Shirley Pudding

In a very old recipe book, I came upon a Shirley Pudding. To date I have not tried it but thought other Shirleys might be interested.
  • 1 cup breadcrusts
  • 1 cup of hot milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • a tablespoon of dry cocoa
  • a little milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped preserved ginger
  • few drops of vanilla
  • Soak the breadcrusts in the hot milk for 20 mins.
  • Add the sugar and salt
  • Mix the cocoa with extra milk, ginger and vanilla.
  • Pour into greased dish and bake in a moderate oven for 45 mins.
