S. 178 from the W. A. Shirleys -- Her Thoughts of the Mini-Convention
Three Western Australian Shirleys, S. 13, S. 178 and S.399 attended the recent Mini Convention held in Christchurch New Zealand, what a wonderfully well organised convention, on Friday 20th October, a Meet and Greet night was held , delicious finger food was served by the Lions club ladies of Christchurch, who then put on a skit with sailors from the Good Ship Lollypop, with Shirley Temple look alike singing.
On Saturday we all met at a workers club in the suburb of Shirley, where a most entertaining day was spent with a talk by a lady from the Antarctic experience from Christchurch, she had us in fits of laughter explaining how to go to the toilet when wearing layers and layers of clothing to keep warm. Then a lady known as the Button Lady showed us her button pictures sewn on fabric. Not unlike the Pearly people do in Britain, then the West Aussies wowed them again with an outrageous skit, once again causing much laughter.
On the Sunday it was off to Gethseme Gardens, and Noah's ark, for a Devonshire tea, and dancing. It was sad to say goodbye to our New Zealand friends, but hopefully we will all meet up again at the next Convention next September at the Gold Coast.
IF YOU HAVEN'T YET ATTENDED A CONVENTION, THEN THINK ABOUT GOING NEXT SEPTEMBER, YOU WILL HAVE THE BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE, LOTS OF FUN, FOOD AND FRIENDSHIP.
